Scheduled Knighting for May 17th and 18th

Knights of the Altar Knighting

Scheduled for May 17^th and 18^th

St. Joan of Arc level will be knighted at the 5:00 pm Mass on 5/17 and at the 7:00 am Mass on 5/18.
St. Michael level will be knighted at the 8:30 am Mass on 5/18.
Blessed Virgin Mary level will be knighted at the 11:00 am Mass on 5/18.

PURPOSE OF THE KNIGHTS OF THE ALTAR

To shape a praiseworthy person to our Divine Eucharistic King, Jesus Christ, in whose service we willingly take on the self-respect and attitude of becoming Knights of the Altar.

To provide faithful, reverent and helpful service to God by assisting His visible representatives, the Bishops and Priests, in offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and in all other liturgical and devotional gatherings.

To stir up in the hearts of the faithful whom we represent at the altar, greater holiness and devotion by reverently performing the duties of our holy place of work and by giving good example in our daily lives.

Prayer Before Mass

Prayer before Mass:

Almighty and merciful God, You have invited us to participate in this act of worship with Your beloved Son and our High Priest and King. Grant us the grace to fulfill our sacred duty with faith, reverence and love, so that we may please You edify Your people, and obtain for ourselves and for them the fruits of this Holy Sacrifice.

Basic Guidelines and Requirements

Level 1: Knight of St. Joan of Arc.

1. Make promise of Knights of the Altar "Code of Chivalry".

2. Complete written exam - return completed forms by given date.

Level 2: Knight of St. George.

1. Renew promises of Knights Code of Chivalry

2. With the help of my Parents, I will take part in 3 "Acts of Charity" done for the good of another person.

Level 3: Knight of St. Michael the Arch Angel.

1. Code of Chivalry

2. Should be 8th grade or higher

3. 3 letters of recommendation by other than parents.

- Why should name advance to this high level of a Knight of the Altar?

- How is living the Catholic Faith - helping name to stay close to God?

- How is this shown in name daily life?

Level 4: Knight of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

1. Must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

2. Write an essay of at least 200 words addressing why you wish to advance to the highest level within the Knights of the Altar.

3. Personal interview covering teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Faith.

Prayer After Mass

Prayer after Mass:

We give You thanks, heavenly Father, for the honor of assisting at this Holy Sacrifice and we beg You to forgive us whatever failing we have committed before Your Divine Majesty. Help us to spend the rest of this day in Your presence and to apply to ourselves the lessons we have learned at Your Holy Altar.
